The embroidery machine does embroider by itself, though you do have to think about where to position the pattern and any writing etc. It stops and tells you when to change threads and all that good stuff.I have just done a couple of face washers and a hand towel and the design was off centre on both face washers, but it's like anything new, it takes time to learn it. I too would love a long arm quilter, but sadly there is no space, not to mention no money for one of them. Take care.
